A growing tradition in Cologne

Knights for Rare 2024

On 17 April 2024, Knights for Rare came to Cologne. More than 60 biotech executives, investors, physicians, advisors, patient advocates and members of the rare disease community came together with a shared purpose: to recognise extraordinary patient advocacy and create meaningful impact.

Honouring Nephrokids

Avanzanite Bioscience was proud to honour Nephrokids, a parent-led organisation from North Rhine-Westphalia supporting children and young people living with kidney diseases, many of them rare.

Nephrokids was founded by Michaela and Oliver Peer, whose own children were born with chronic kidney disease. It is a powerful reminder that meaningful change often begins with personal experience, and the association continues to support families across generations.

The Evening

More than one evening

The Knights for Rare community responded extraordinarily.

Together, guests raised more than €12,500, more than double the inaugural event, giving Nephrokids additional resources to continue its remarkable work.

It was another reminder that Knights for Rare is about far more than one night. It is a growing community of people who believe that those who dedicate their lives to helping others deserve to be recognised, celebrated and supported.
